There are several types of warts that may show up on different parts of the body, however the most common type of foot wart is the plantar warts.
What’s a Plantar Wart?
A plantar wart is a small growth that shows up on the weight-bearing areas of the sole of the foot–usually the heels or the balls of the feet. Because they are on the soles of the feet, the pressure causes the warts to grow inward, giving them the appearance of being a small pebble embedded in the foot. The wart is sometimes beneath a callus.
If left untreated, plantar warts may become painful. Warts are also contagious, so to avoid passing the infection to others, treatment is needed.
